October 1, 2022: AWSHC is implementing a low cost vaccine clinic for community dogs and cats. To make this initiative a reality, we will need the help of skilled volunteers. Those positions and their descriptions can be found below. The clinics will be conducted once every 4 weeks for 4 hours on a Saturday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, beginning on October 29, 2022. Veterinarian (1)
- Cursory exam. Recommendations for additional treatment if appropriate.
- Administration of vaccines, either all vaccines or just rabies, at the Veterinarian’s discretion. Other vaccines can be left to Techs/Assistants if so desired, Veterinarian’s call.
- Microchip can be left to Techs/Assistants if so desired, Veterinarian’s call.
- Authority for all medical issues.
Vet Tech/Assistant (2)
- Reports to Vaccine Clinic Coordinator.
- Support to Veterinarian as requested.
- Facilitate the entry of the patient and owner into the facility.
- Weigh the animal.
- Check for microchip.
- Animal handling.
- Animal restraint and/or muzzling during vaccination and microchipping.
- Prepare vaccine injections as requested.
- Administer non-rabies vaccines and microchipping as requested.
- Cleanup any messes caused by animals during appointment.
- Wipe down treatment areas with Virox antiviral between appointments.
- Facilitate the exit of the patient and client from the facility.
- Clean facility at the conclusion of the clinic.
Data Entry Assistant / Clinic Attendant (1)
- Reports to Vaccine Clinic Coordinator.
- Enter all treatment information into Digitail Practice Management System (PMS).
- Provide hard copy records to clients as requested.
- Explain Digitail Pet Parent application to clients if necessary.
- Provide information from Digitail PMS to all clinic staff as requested.
- Provide alternate caregiver information (local veterinarians) to clients if requested.
- Take incoming appointment arrival calls and update arrival status.
- Queue Vet Tech/Assistant to fetch next appointment.
- Call clients to come in at assigned appointment time.
Vaccine Clinic Coordinator (1)
- Verify commitments of all staff prior to clinic date.
- Verify all required supplies are on hand in advance of clinic date.
- Prepare Vaccination appointment sheet based on Digital scheduling in advance of clinic.
- Distribute appointment sheets to staff.
- Oversee the smooth flow of activities during the clinic.
- Advisement to vet Tech/Assistants and data entry assistant as required.
- Support to Veterinarian as required.
- Overall responsibility for the operation of the clinic.
